Opryland Country Christmas 2018 Announcement | Nashville Travel | Sami Cone

This morning we attended the Opryland Country Christmas 2018 Announcement (a birthday treat for me). Gaylord Opryland Resort is already setting the stage for the 35th annual A Country Christmas, presented by Pepsi.

Horticulturists at the iconic 2,888-room hotel are already beginning to string 3 million holiday lights, a process that will take several months to complete. (And stay tuned for more video footage of me in a cherry-picker getting a birds-eye view of the Opryland Stars who hang the lights!)

The Opryland Country Christmas announcement started with an update on SoundWaves, the resort’s million indoor/outdoor upscale water attraction. Families can begin booking vacation packages today that will include SoundWaves access starting December 2018. Keep in mind, only guests who stay at the resort will have access to this luxury indoor/outdoor waterpark.

Here are a few highlights from the lineup for the 2018 A Country Christmas festivities:
* Trace Adkins Christmas dinner show featuring songs from The King’s Gift
* The resort’s signature holiday attraction – ICE! – will feature Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! Guests can also have breakfast with The Grinch and take part in a Grinch-y themed scavenger hunt throughout the resort.
* Back by popular demand, Cirque Dreams Holidaze returns to the Grand Ole Opry house with 20 stunning acts

Even though we live in Nashville, we ALWAYS book an overnight stay at Gaylord Opryland Resort every Christmas season (usually on Black Friday so we can walk over to neighboring Opry Mills mall too!). Whether you’re from out of town or a local, this year’s A Country Christmas is one not to be missed!

A Country Christmas has been hailed as one of the “Ten Great Places to Catch up with Santa” by USA Today; “The Most Christmassy Hotel in the Nation” by the Travel Channel’s “Extreme Christmas;” one of the top 10 places to spend Christmas in the world by Travel + Leisure; and a “Nashville treasure” by Southern Living.

A Country Christmas runs Nov. 9, 2018 through Jan. 1, 2019. Tickets and packages are available beginning July 17 at ChristmasAtGaylordOpryland.com.
