The Warrior Bishop of the Confederacy fought Union General William T. Sherman in Mississippi, where the Confederate commander ruled with an iron fist against the citizens of Mississippi, Alabama, and East Louisiana, where he attempted to stamp out bushwhackers. Then, he was transferred to the Army of Tennessee where he took part in the defenses of Atlanta.
