Jones Family 1962 Vacation To Knoxville and Gatlinburg, Tennessee

I love coming across this type of footage!
One of the most frequent and popular subjects to turn up in Orphaned home
movies are trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Here is a 1962 8mm film reel found on Ebay depicting the Jones Family from Birds, Illinois travelling through Knoxville to Gatlinburg, making a pitstop at the Alhambra Motor Court on Kingston Pike in Knoxville, Tennessee.

An old familiar folk tune, “Back to Old Smoky Mountains”, recorded by the Smoky Mountains Ramblers in Knoxville, 1929-30, accompanies the silent footage.
