Surgeon education remains essential, even in this pandemic environment. Dr. Byrd and his staff are effectively transitioning to virtual training as much as possible. In a recent American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) Instructional Course, Dr. Byrd lectured online about his experience on how hip arthroscopy evolved. This is a personal perspective as he reflects upon innovation out of necessity. Dr. Byrd is the type of doctor that likes to do everything the exact same way every time forever. He did not wake up one more morning and have this wild idea to try something new. Any innovations he and his team have done were simply because the alternatives were simply less appealing.
