Tennessee tops 200,000 COVID-19 cases

Positive COVID-19 cases in Tennessee have now topped 200,000.

The state reported Sunday Tennessee has seen 201,210 COVID-19 cases. That’s an increase of about 1,600 cases from yesterday.

It’s been about seven months since this pandemic gripped the Volunteer State.

The number of deaths rose too – up 17 since yesterday, now sitting at about 2,600.

Nurse Mary Beth West helped take care of COVID-19 patients, and is a part of the Vanderbilt COVID-19 vaccine trial.

“I mean, it just really breaks my heart because these are illnesses — these are deaths that don’t necessarily need to happen,” West said.

She said she’s received both trial vaccines already, and now scientists will see if antibodies are in her system helping her to better beat the virus.

Many are eagerly awaiting the vaccine as big names battle the virus, like professional athletes here in Nashville, and even President Trump.

The Titans now have 20 people — players and staff –infected.
